Kasha-Katuwe (Tent Rocks), New Mexico
My bare feet tingle with life as I walk upon sand blown from this ancient mesa. Millions of storms tore at these rocks, long before my time.
I wander through a serpentine canyon, along a water-worn trail carved through rock now dry. Wind follows, howling and pushing into tight places, relentlessly shaping earth. Fine grit parches my throat and corners in my eyes. I am in heaven.
The "tick tick" of billions of grains of sand stings the walls, a symphony to my hungry soul, the music of living Earth. Billions of grains of sand set free in a single second. And I with them. ~ Robin Easton

No, wilderness is not a luxury but a necessity of the human spirit,
as vital to our lives as water and good bread. A civilization which destroys what
little remains of the wild, the spare, the original, is cutting itself off from its origins and betraying the principle of civilization itself. ~ Edward Abbey
