The great impersonal Love
In a constant stream expresses itself
And becomes the world
And becomes myself

Russ' poems are inspired by the natural beauty around him.
Russell Hume has been writing poetry for over twenty years and recently wrote poetry for Robin Easton's novel, Naked in Eden. Most of Russ' poetry is inspired by the ancient deserts of the southwest. His words express his wonderment of the area, and his love of Life. Russ enjoys backpacking into the wild, even camping in winter’s cold so he might have the backcountry to himself. It is in this peace and quiet that Russ is inspired to write.
Hume grew up in northern New Mexico. At the age of twelve, when his friends were watching Gilligans Island, Russ was taking notes from the television series, Kung Fu, and sharing them at school as his own inspired notions. In high school and college, while most of his peers were working out relationships in the back seats of cars, Russ was reading Carlos Castaneda’s books, writing his own poetic philosophy and discovering Spirit. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Russ when he wasn’t carrying his scruffy old army knapsack, which contains a tattered notepad and a stub of chewed pencil.

Russ is an exuberant, motivational and humorous orator. One of his latest passions is performance poetry, in which he reads his work to musical accompaniment. When not writing, performing or sneaking off to the desert, he runs his design business in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he currently lives with his wife, and daughter.

Resistance is Futile
Wind and water move through stone canyons
In an elemental display of power
Etching patterns on these walls
With each passing hour

Relentlessly they find a way
In no hurry they do their jobs
Wearing down resistance
Undaunted by the odds

Revealing surfaces not yet exposed
They patiently continue their task
Finding their way within
To fracture the personal mask

Wearing daily on the basis
As layers crumble across the land
Until all things are equal
Perpetual rock to fluid sand

To find our own reflection
Deep with each other's heart
The weaver and the woven
One from the very start
