Become the Journey

Posted by Robin Easton under: Hobnobbin' with Robin .

Today I want to share some exciting news. Some of you have already heard my good news, but I’m so excited I want to make an “official” announcement. After a long journey my book, Naked in Eden, has found a delightful home. I recently signed a book contract with Health Communications, Inc. They are a publisher who long ago made a commitment to change lives for the better. To use the words from their Twitter page: “HCI Books (Health Communications Inc.) is an award-winning non-fiction publisher, self-help, memoirs, recovery – Changing Lives One Book at a Time.”

I am still reeling from the wonder of all this. I am grateful beyond words to the remarkable soul who is my literary agent, Barbara Deal. You have become my trusted and treasured friend. You’ve had unwavering belief in me. I am deeply grateful to Allison for seeing and believing….and all the crew at HCI. I am both humbled and honored. I also thank my dearest sweetheart; there are no words that could convey what you’ve given and continue to give. Then there is YOU, my dear friends both online and offline; you are with me far more than you may imagine. You strengthen the fabric of who I am, and keep me laughing, learning and loving.

I wish you a very good journey to an unknown you’ve never seen.
~ Pieter V. Admiraal

Dear sweet friends,

I am sooo touched by all your support, insight, life-affirming love and encouragement. I can hardly believe the magnitude of who you are. You are humanity at its finest, most loving, most wise, most compassionate and more. For anyone to think that the world is not FULL of good people would not be true. They need only come to this page and see each of you and read your comments here and on your blogs to see the ASTOUNDING goodness in the world.

Each of you are truly contributing to the Universal Fabric that is Love. You also contribute FAR more than you may think to the fabric of MY life and who I am and who I am becoming each day. I never thought such a thing was possible on the internet. I never would have dreamed it in my wildest dreams. And, as you know, I have some very wild dreams. :)

I pray that each of you knows how much your caring, your compassion and love means in my life. Your influence is profound. Beyond what I have said here in these simple words….there really are no words.

Love,
Robin

Now, Robin, I have to tell you, your husband is so very wise, too. How lucky you are, and thank you for sharing his advice with us all. I just love your walk to Alaska and the advice he gave you. Robin, I am THRILLED for you, and am blown away by your video. You are SO, SO right about the one step, and I really needed to hear it, because it’s so easy to be engulfed by the high-reaching, seemingly unattainable goal, and to become intimidated and inhibited by its distance. I’ll try to remember this, and to move forever forward, forever keeping the journey in mind, rather than the end. It’s the journey that it’s all about, really, after all. That walk to Alaska. That walk that teaches and brings us all a kind of enlightenment.

The world deserves and NEEDS your messages of love and respect for our mother earth, and all that you bring – all your gifts. You’re an incredible, amazing person, who continues to astound me with your wisdom and loving heart. I’m touched beyond words, to tears. You inspire me, every day. I love you, dear one, and hold you in my heart always.

Congratulations! I’m smiling with you. :) :) :) xoxoxo

Oh Robin, I expected you to jump out of teh video and be here to do the dance with me.
Actually you did!
You are so full of life, a computer cannot contain that, nothing can contain your exuberance, your joy, it goes beyond and it reached and it filled me!
Words our powerful, your words are powerful and they will reach far and beyond, like you.
Your words sing the image, your words lift us up, your words take us on a journey to Alaska and beyond.
I am coming with you all the way Robin, you showed me to embrace life one step at the time, you showed me how a journey to Alaska can be done and not many have done that to me.
Not many have painted a picture about life that moved me as yours does.
That means a lot to me Robin, to fill me with such joy, to fill me with such possibility, to show me what God had in mind, THAT is priceless.
We lost that image Robin, and now you are so beautifully showing it to us and me again, with this blog, your videos, your music and now soon with your published book.
I am so loving you and now I love your agent and your publishers too.
My writer, my muse, your book will shine and shoot stars and it will light up lives wherever it and your words, where you appear.
The biggest hug, Wilma

Hi Robin,

I can’t think of a person more deserving of this success than you. You have been a wonderful source of inspiration not only to me but to countless others who read the wise words you write.

I give you a lot of credit in helping me maintain a positive outlook in times when I begin to think that there is not a lot of goodness left in the world. I knew when I decided several months ago to reenter the political world that it would challenge my ability to remain open amidst the vitriolic hatred many people feel towards the “other” side.

The timing of starting my little blog seems to have been designed by a higher power since it allowed me to connect with you and others to remind me how much each of us share in common regardless of the political ideals we have developed over our lives. Often when I weave this concept into my talks it is met with a large degree of skepticism simply because human nature cannot seem to grasp that political ideals and reality share little in common. Try telling a group of Conservatives that Liberals share most of the same fears and desires that they do only that they believe that the solutions to these problems are different and watch the tomatoes start flying. :)

You are a true source of good in this world and I can’t wait to read the book. We need as many reminders as we can get that we are all connected to each other and the world around us.

Thank you for all you do.

Namaste,
Roger

What wonderful news! I shall look forward to having a copy of your book upon my shelf displayed prominently. You know, one step at a time is exactly how I have learned to walk in the mountains up such steep ridges, or in the rivers tangled with log jams and boulders. In those steps we see so much and each one brings us closer to those beautiful tops. Or I look ahead and see these obstacles that look impassable yet each step brings a solution closer and before I know it I have climbed up over or through without really even knowing how and continue on my way. Robin, I am proud to know you and to be a small part of your journey in my heart. Rave on Kia kaha!

Dearest Robin,

First of all, the biggest of congratulations to you!! I loved your happy dance! How so very exciting!

Second, your story of moving through life one step at a time made me smile. This is an example I am so intimately familure with from my long distance hikes. You and your husband hit it right on the head! When you are doing a long distance hike, if you think of the end point all the time you are almost guaranteed to fail early on. Because you are putting your energy out ahead of yourself, you are not here in the now dealing with what is presented in each moment. And just as you said, you start to psych yourself out with ‘how far’ you have to go. But when you set that goal, and then just allow yourself to be in the now, moving forward one step at a time, you would be SO amazed at how quickly you get there. Know you can do it! And your life will take you there.

Looking back on this summer, sometimes I can’t believe that I hiked the whole 2,650 mile Pacific Crest Trail, but I did. Its an amazing process to watch yourself go through a journey such as that, and watch others around you undertake the same adventure. Some succeed, and others fail along the way. You can see peoples fears slowly wear them out, and the anticipation of the future drain their energy. Seven years ago I would have never imagined that by the year 2010 I would be able to say I have hiked over 6,000 miles. We can accomplish anything we set our hearts to!

Your words are full of wisdom, and a wonderful lesson for each of us to learn and remember! Set your intention, and let it go. Live in the now knowing that step by step you will get to that goal!

Dearest Robin! What an inspiring video – THANK you for sharing the glowing joy that YOU ARE! You are so right about ONE STEP! There is no express train to where we want to go, no instant on, no magical short cut – the magic is in ONE STEP and always being present. How precious your video is and I couldn’t be more thrilled for your book contract – YAY you!!!! You are the most shining example of a journey well-lived.

I use the one step as one page in my writing. I know it will be a book, but I write one page a day – just one. And some days are skipped, some days only one really good paragraph. It doesn’t matter!!!! I know one day I will see it finished, I will have arrived at that “push pin”. And I know in my heart that every day of the journey is sacred.

Hooray for you – and big big hugs,
suZen
