Is There Life on Earth?

Posted by Robin Easton under: Hobnobbin' with Robin .

Greetings
my wonderful crew of kind friends!
Happy New Year!!

I wish for you more Life, more Love, less worries, healing from pain and suffering, the ability to move into life with a sense of exploration and boldness, to live the dreams you’ve been putting off, to face the fears you’ve run from, and that you can reach out and grasp Joy and Life…because it is there in every moment and we are capable of greatness. We ARE greatness.

I also pray that each of us will become globally involved so that we can help our brothers and sisters who don’t have the opportunities that many of us have. In helping others we help ourselves as well.

I pray that we can make daily choices that protect and heal our planet. It starts at home in what we eat, buy or don’t buy, burn, and so on. Make use of the internet to educate yourself in the ways in which you can contribute to healthy planetary living.

Those of you who have confided in me your pain, loss or disease, I continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers…everyday. You are part of me and are NOT forgotten. I’m honored that you have shared your soul with me.

I am also honored by the quality of beautiful souls that arrive at these pages. It truly is a miraculous and healing gift. As you know, I am deeply moved and heartened knowing that you are in the world.

Love,
Robin

Oh wow Robin, how powerful is the symbolism of that running water in the video to life. In all its forms. It flows and ebbs regardless. Sometimes a torrent or sometimes a trickle. But still water it rarely is. I loved this video and its just the inspiration I needed to kick start my New Year.

I say this every time I comment I know but I am SO GLAD I found your site. In fact, do you know you were the very first person whoever commented on my blog nine months ago. I am going to grasp joy and life with both hands and squeeze it for all its worth in 2009. I wish you all the blessings in the world Robin and may 2009 be exciting yet at the same time peaceful. I am so hoping I get a Robin Easton book on my bookshelf this year. And have to tell you the videos you are doing are powerful. Joy to you!!

Robin Replies:
Oh dear Lilly, What a lovely insight about Water and Life. I too feel the correlation between the two. I am touched that you enjoyed this simple video and thank you for your encouragement. It means a lot to me just as you do. You too were one of my very first connections and I am SO GRATEFUL for your presence in my life. You know it. I did not know I was the first to comment on your blog. Wow!! That is so very cool, because I delight over and over in reading your writing. As Horatio says, you are one of the great writers. You have made me laugh until I peed my pants and have left me crying with joy until I went away feeling more alive and inspired. Thank you for that an so much more my beautiful Aussie friend. You are a real classy act! Only it’s not an act…it’s true Lilly through and through!

Thank you for the serene challenges!

Here’s my New Year’s gift to you:

Imperious

“Back so
Soon with
Scars so
Fresh,
Willing to be
Pressed against the
Sharp
Edge of
Pain?”

“Howling yet from
Severance
Won and
Sacrifice obtained by
Standing in the
Prow of
Life and
Facing every
Tempest hot, I turn
Again and
Lay it down–my
Blood a warming
Storm of
Victory.”

Oh Yes, Alex!! This is my favorite poem of yours. I LOVE this poem. So appropriate for beginning a new year, for continuing Life with our eyes and hearts open. I love the passion in this poem and relate to it’s courage and fortitude. Your line: “Standing in the prow of Life…” Oh that is pure inspiration and exhilaration! It is how you have faced life, how I face Life….and many other who come here to these pages. So reading your words instills Life in me, as I’m sure it will others who arrive here to this page. I would love to see this poem in the banner of your blog or right at the front as I think it send a powerful and encouraging message that would inspire so many. —I am glad we connected and thank you deeply for all you kindness, patience and support over that last year. What a gift!!! You remain in my thoughts of healing. Always.

Hi again Robin! One more comment before the new year…thank you so much for your kind and loving words to me. I think with guidance from your blog and the blogs of a few others, I can come to terms with the “issues” that sometimes haunt me. My posts may even get a little more personal…maybe to connect with those who feel the same as I. Your words help to “center” me and I thank you for them. I truly do!

*blowing nose and wiping tears after listening to and watching this video*

Oh, Robin, this is so beautiful. In 2009 I am going to achieve each and every resolution in your video as best I can. I need not come up with my own as I believe you’ve covered all that’s important. Thank you so much, friend! Again, a happy and healthy New Year to you… :o ) :o )

Robin Replies:
Dear Holly, You do me a great honor with this comment. I too have been moved and inspired by your thoughts, feelings and incredibly beautiful photos. I am over joyed that my words helped to center you, and even more joyed that you are so open to them. That is what I love most about your writing…the honesty and openness. I thrive in that and find it incredibly beautiful. I encourage you to be as personal as you need to be. I have been thinking about that very issue with my own writing, feeling a need to be more honest, more who I really am….even if it clicks with only a few people. Being who we really can be very empowering. Often times we humans run from, categorize and analyze to death our feelings, completely stripping the soul from the human experience. There is something wildly primordial in letting ourselves experience all emotions uninhibitedly…without judgment. It can be very healing to do this…if we only allow it. Thank you for being an inspiration in my life.

I love your video and I love the words, I did cry, in fact I am still as I am writing. It made me reflect on so much, I am probably the happiest I have ever been right now in many ways but I also have some sadness in the background. I guess this is like so many people.
I only occasionally open up in my writing, I definitely have a very British outlook, and sometimes I think I should sometimes be a little less reserved.
The sad thing is I am drawn to your blog and Holly’s above which I also love because of your openness and there is one thing that perhaps I should do a little more is be a little more real.
Incidentally, I love water, it has fascination to me. When I see it running like that or the waves of the sea crashing backwards and forwards, it reminds me of the constancy. Problems will come and go but those waves and that stream will still be running. It is a strange comfort and I don’t know why ;)
Thank you for you friendship, I wish you a very Happy New Year.
Oh and if I win the lottery, I want a big party where some of us could get together, now that is a crazy dream but it makes me laugh out loud to think of it!

Robin Replies:
Aaaw Chrissy my gentle-hearted friend, Do you know what is so interesting? I have always seen (and felt) you as so VERY open. It’s what draws back to your sharings over and over. In the precious video you did of the deer keeper you just glow with warmth and openness. It hit me so hard, over thousands of miles, as if you were right in my living room. I think so many people feel your open heart and it is why they love you. It is also expressed in all your creativity, your writing, and your response to those who come into your life. I see it all the time. —-I know what you mean about water. I too am a water person. I grew on the water. If we could all just sit by a stream or the sea for 10 minutes every day I think there would be more peace in the world. Without even thinking about it water mesmerizes us into relaxation and peace. Water is a great comfort. We humans are comprised almost solely of water. —-Thank YOU for your friendship. You honor me. —-And yes, I think the party is a GREAT idea!! LOL :)

Dear Walter, always so good to see you here. Yes, it is such an uplifting experience to connect with kindred souls. I have felt this when reading your thoughts. There is a harmony about it, a great sense of joy and wonder. No matter how many times it happens for me it is like meeting that first kindred spirit, Life and joy anew every time. I love the imagery of all these lines of light or paths of light connecting kindred people. As you know so well, we are so much more than our physicality. —-As to changing, these days I only seem to move closer to who Robin really is, closer to life and love. It is a powerful time. It is Life. Thank you for inspiring me. It’s good!

Your kind thoughts remind us the power to be rediscovered as we reconnect with ourselves. The world around us preaches what we must do, need to do and should do at every moment. All of this distracts our minds and souls from what we believe matters inside the heart. As you encourage people to reconnect with Nature, I recognize how truly life-changing this can be. To walk through nature when you are experiencing upheavals and confusion in your life offers priceless comfort and reassurance. I glimpsed the tail end of a humorous New Year’s concert in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada. The band was playing on an outdoor stage in a blizzard and the crowd was dancing in all their winter gear. Just goes to show a bit of unexpected snow in your bagpipes, keyboard or shoes does not have to detract from your ability to savor joy in a moment. It is not what is happening in your life that matters but how you choose to perceive it. Happy New Year to everyone. May you rediscover the unlimited strength and resilience within.

Robin Replies:
My dear Liara, I loved your words: “The world around us preaches what we must do, need to do and should do at every moment. All of this distracts our minds and souls from what we believe matters inside the heart.” Oh!! This is so wise. I think it’s why I love so much the “empty space”, the peace of Nature. By EMPTY I mean that Nature simply IS. She creates vast space for the soul to heal. In her timelessness she sits without judgment or condemnation, awaiting our return. Always loving. Once we are able to sit within her empty space, be “with” her, we are then left with room to feel and experience ourselves, room to hear her voice of “fullness”. In this space we are able to remember who and what we are. —-I chuckled and rejoiced over the concert in the snow! That is delightful. :) I felt soooooooo happy reading that. I hungered to be there dancing in the storm. Oh, the human spirit is boundless. Thank you SO much for sharing such a life-giving experience. We all should dance in the snow, Liara. It moves me to tears. Thank you….

Life is for living. Your video says so much… more than the words themselves. Your heart shines through and your encouragement is warm. The stream and waterfall are so mesmorising. I can close my eyes and smell the air, feeling the breeze against my cheeks. Such a scene is so inspiring. This is a fitting reminder for me to make sure I take as much time as I can to get outside during the weekends and “live my life”. Thank you so much for making a difference, for taking time out of your busy life to encourage and inspire others. This is a true reflection of the generous person you are. Thank you dear Robin, thank you for everything xxxx

Robin Replies:
My dear forever friend, I know firsthand that YOU have the same passionate love of Nature and adventure that I do. We are kindred. All your photos reflect both your wide open heart and your love of all things wild. BUT they reflect even something more….your love affair with Life. I encourage to always face toward Life, listen to your heart and do that which you LOVE doing. You are already very aware and alive; it’s who you have chosen to be ever since your parents took you camping in the forest.

My friends, if you have not yet seen Graham’s stunning photos of Savernake Forest in Wiltshire, England, go to this link and feast your eyes. Graham loves hiking and photography, and his photos of this forest are breathless. http://grahamettridge.blogspot.com/2007/11/another-sunday-morning-stroll-in.html

Robin, we can be moved by any experience. Human beings can dream of dancing in the snow, close their eyes and imagine what it would feel like to be in a physical place where this would be possible. We also have the power and ability to explore what it would feel like to be elsewhere. It all comes back to the power of visualisation and focus. You remind people that the simple things that are accessible to everyone everywhere are what makes like meaningful.

Robin Replies:
Yes, dear Liara, it is the simple things. If noticed, appreciated and lived, a billion tiny simple things add up to make a truly grand and shinning life, a life fully lived. Thank you.

Ah Robin, you care so much! As I write tonight, I listen to your music, over and over again.

Here’s a poem I wrote today, of course I published your message and video on my blog: http://www.about-albuquerquenm.com deep thoughts are wandering westward, starry skies call my dreams, and yet these last few days I’ve journeyed into a new cavern, full of deeper love, sharing, perhaps communion with friends and earth. I love your writing and you! Mary

Oops! The poem, guess I am really tired.

On joyful night
cold black sky filled with stars
the farillitos called our feet to
wander to a mystical den

candles celebrated
luminous magic
of fires from old

the family pew was strong
and cool and few took time to notice
three hundred years of sermons
while juniper called the wild nerness(t)
in through windows draft.

one by one friends came
sharing stories and fame,
conversations open
sometimes bold
caressed our blessings
being told.

Food abundant
prepared with love,
the scared space
opened its heart to our doors.

an eve’s new years
connected hopes
joy shared.

outside the air was cold
i could see my breath
like times old.
i laughed thanking the stars.

all those candles glowed
like drawings in ocean’s sand
flickered with spirit’s love
lingering now with my thanks to you.

poem by Mary MacIntyre 2009

Oh Mary!! I am so glad your sent this along. It is very very beautiful. I know you are a truly excellent writer but I did not know you were also a gifted poet. Living in the same town as you I could picture every detail of this mystical journey. I felt great peace just reading it. The connection you make to both Nature and our primal past is extremely powerful for me. You really ought to submit this to a local paper or magazine. I think so many in our area would relate to it deeply. Thank you my friend for sharing something so beautiful.

Hi Robin ~ I lived around water, from when I was born, until I left for college at 17yrs of age. Whenever I live in a stream or riverless area, I miss the sounds and the flow of water so much. When scientists investigate a planet for signs of life, they look for water.

xh

your posts are a weekly treat :)

Hi dear henry, I didn’t know that you grew up by the water, but England is much like Maine where I grew up, with streams, rivers, lakes abound….then the lovely coast you have there. It makes sense you would be such a water person. I too miss and just adore the sounds of water. Now here in the Southwest, USA if it rains I stop everything I’m doing just to listen to the sound of it. Sometimes I will just go out and stand in the rain; it feels so life-giving. It is. Thank you for all you kind words, wisdom and love. They mean much.

Good morning, my dear friend. It’s been a long time since I came over here. Ah, I so miss you.

There have been changes in my life the past few months, and I had to make some adjustments, that I had to forget about blogging for a while. But of course, I never forgot about your friendship, and the inspiring things I learned and keep learning from you.

I wish you a blessed New Year, my dear sister. I pray that as you continue with your journey, you keep finding life’s treasures — faith, love, nature, good conversations, and everything that is healthy to the soul — and that you’d have all the time to share them with us, because that is one gift that you have — the ability to share and to inspire.

Thank you for the gift of love and friendship. Thank you for the good conversations. Thank you for the inspiration and for your good examples. You are among the good things that happened to me in 2008.

Take care always, Sis!

I am always touched by your compassion. You too have a great gift of inspiring others. Your writing is beautiful and straight from the heart, very pure and filled with fresh innocence which is so wonderful to see in today’s world. And KNOW that you also are among the very good things that happened to me in 2008. You encourage me to foster my own sense of innocence and inner beauty. Yum. The sound of running water. LOVE that.

Do What You Think You Can’t

I would consider getting that tattooed on my body. Until then, I am going to make a sign and hang it where I can see it clearly every day.

I remember one of the first interviews Christopher Reeve did after a riding accident left him paralyzed from the neck down. I think it was Diane Sawyer who asked him, “Aren’t you angry?”

His reply: “What really makes me angry are all the able-bodied people who live paralyzed lives.”

Amen!

New Year Blessings to you, dear one.

Robin Replies
Oh “earthmother”, this is so lovely. the tattoo idea made me laugh out loud and then I thought yeah, if I were a tattoo person I think that would be my tattoo as well! :) But like you I will put it on my wall for now. I loved this quote of Christopher Reeve’s. I’d not heard that one, but have had similar thoughts about “able bodied people living paralyzed lives.” So very powerful to remember the gifts that we have and can take for granted every day…our eyes and hands and legs and ears and so forth. Such seemingly simple things and yet HUGE beyond words if we lose the use of them. I am SO glad that you shared that here. Such a potent message. Thank you dear friend. Occasionally I will lose my way, wonder who I am and what I am doing. Occasionally it will make me feel worthless and invisible. Just today I started feeling that way, maybe its the winter blues and all the rain we have been having. Sometimes we need to be reminded with something as simple as running water on rock about how beautiful life is. Its amazing to me that just now I was feeling that way and for some reason clicked on the email link of your site my sister sent me during the holidays (she watched your memories of Christmas videos and thought you were funny). It will be a ground breaking year indeed with the potentials of all of our actions.
