Who Are You?
Posted by Robin Easton under: Hobnobbin' with Robin .
Dear Friends, work has been keeping me away from blogging for several days. Thank you for bearing with and for all your lovely wise comments on my last post. I was floored, touched and thrilled. I hope to at some point reflect back to you your amazing wisdom in a slide show. I wanted to at least post something this week that I found creative. My talented and adventurous friend Graham Ettridge http://grahamettridge.blogspot.com/ did a photo challenge awhile back that I wish I’d seen earlier. Each person had to post ten photos that spoke to some aspect of who they are. I decided to do it here. Since I love photography I used ten photos with captions. I invite you to share ten (or more) words that describe who you are — they can be anything.
I picked the things that came into my heart right away, without thinking about it. I would love to see what each of you come up with. Although I have a strong sense of who you are, there is always something new revealed every time you share here or I read your blog. I love the never ending unfolding. I’ve known my sweetheart for almost twelve years and every day I learn something new about him. It makes life exciting and I feel it is a sign of great vitality, a bit like Life, which is forever changing and unfolding…anew.
Number two photo is the Australian Rough Scale Snake, which is on the dangerous to humans list. These and other potentially deadly creatures brought about my awareness. I learned that there is a difference between awareness and living in fear. More on this at another time. In number five photo I am gently holding a little dying bird that was hit by someone’s car. Another story for another time. Number six is a long deserted beach in Australia. As for number ten, someday I may tell you why I am the sun. More tales for other days. (Chuckles). So now…Who Are You?
Love,
Robin

If I want to be precise in answering this questions, I can use one word only: “me”. Therefore: who am I? I am me. Who else could I possibly be? ![]()
Now, if you ask What am I, this could turn into a longish story… A very longish one, since all the filters of perception blur the picture to the extend that it is almost ridiculous to state anything.
Pictures are perhaps indeed a better attempt to convey messages like this. Better then words.

Hi Robin.
I love this kind of stuff. Ten words that describe me, off the top of my head:
Child, Shy, Laughter, Travel, Science, Humanity, Beauty, Escapism, Music, Fun
I’m sure that if I considered myself for longer I would add other words and if I were being less serious (and more weird) I would use ten wholly different words.
I would be a psychiatrist’s nightmare …
Cheers

Robin, this uplifting collage reminds human beings of power in simplicity and interconnectedness. To experience things that are not explainable under one’s accepted beliefs about the world does not mean these things do not exist. You gently remind people the physical world offers infinite experiences that are not limited to information provided by the familiar senses. Read into the silence and between the letters of the words. Truth is found in musical energy vibrations.

I like that idea. Awhile back I got this list of questions about yourself (25 I think) from my daughters. I saved it because it’s great way to share.
I know this is less positive but I just wanted to ask – your sweetheart comment – that new thing you learn everyday it’s not always positive is it?
Robin Replies
I love your question.
Do you know what? I have to say that it is ALWAYS positive. Even if he reveals something with pain attached to it in some way, I feel very honored that he trusts me enough to open up and share with ME, always share with me. It is a gift of the heart. AND that I can do the same with him.
It reminds me of when a child tells their parents something “good” he/she has done and the parents often praise the child and are happy, which they should be. But when the same child tells their parents something that upsets the parents, something the child feels he/she did that was “wrong” (I use the word “wrong” loosely), some mistake he made, something he broke, something he was told not to do, etc….BUT the child is STILL daring to tell his parents about it — that needs to be recognized and honored as a gift, as someone having the courage to share (what we perceive as) the “bad or negative” things. (The tough things.) Not that the parents can’t talk about the mistake the child made and explore why he did it (or set consequences), etc, but they also must acknowledge and honor that their child trusted them enough to come and share secrets, fears, mistakes, never before told thoughts, etc.
Many adults fear sharing the truth because too many times as a child they were beaten upon emotionally, verbally, mentally, physically when they told the truth. So they learned that lying was safer, easier and literally less painful. It is a survival mechanism, one we can unlearn.
Often we humans want to mold people to behave, respond and fit into our needs…as if we owned them, as if the other person were here on Earth to meet OUR needs and demands. They are not. They are their own magical free soul here on Earth for their own unfolding and unique purpose. When we are free in ourselves we can let others unfold as well. It doesn’t mean we have to let others walk all over us, abuse us, neglect us and so forth. It just means that we can speak our truth, live it, and let others do the same without being threatened by it. It truly is a gift.
Thank you dear Lisleman for your earnest and inquisitive nature. It is sincerely beautiful. Look what you inspired me to write. I am so blessed.

Hi Robin,
Just 10 words, but this was a hard one. Please note that I could easily tag on 10 more words that would show my darker side. I thought that “anxious” was as far as I should tread!
shy, dreamer, liberal, animals, nature, laughter, immature, kind, playful, anxious
Also, Robin, you’ve got 10 words there, but 11 photos. Those feeties need a word and I vote for the word “free!”

Robin Replies While Laughing!!!
I wondered who would be the first to notice that eleventh photo! I only noticed it after I posted it. I should have had a prize for the first to notice and mention it! Yes, the “FEETIES” are there. And YES, I too vote for the word “FREE”. (It works: “FREE FEETIES”) Lol! I can see that I won’t be slipping anything past YOU!!

Oh my word!!!
You ALL are sooooooooo amazing. I LOVE these comments on “Who Are You?” I will have to create something from them when I am not working. I am off to Kinko’s to print a flyer for a talk I am giving. Wish you could all come. That would be a BLAST!!! But I hope to post a video of it at some point.
I just want to thank you ALL for taking to the time to really share who you are with me and every one here. I have just been thrilled over such fun, insightful, honest, totally brave AND creative responses.
You REALLY are the best. I could not share with better people. Bless you for that and for the choices you make in your lives to be “Who You Are.”

Hi Robin ~ A great post m’dear!
10 things about me (and the things
1. Untidy and neglectful of housework – (slob)
2. Loyal
3. Bad with money – lacking any interest or desire to make any more than I need – which is small.
4. Theatre ~ It is such a part of me, that I don’t love it in a conscious way – but when I’m on-stage, I am fully at ease. I know exactly what to do and which angle or nuance is needed to achieve the desired affect. Yet a lot of the life gets me down – “No Turn Unstoned” the autobiography of Diana Rigg (Dame)
5. Distant ~ I can still be stand-offish and aloof (must go to the Summer Solstice at Stonehenge again this year) It did me a power of good last year.
6. Short Tempered (with a capital “F***”)
7. Lazy (except when I’m doing just what I want at the time)
8. Selfish (see 6 & 7 above)
9. Bad at getting up (in the mornings)
10 Inventive ~ I now have TWO mornings every day. I naturally wake at first light – even if it’s before 5am (there’s no hope for me in Winter) I get up and see the dawn. Then the animal me goes to bed…and the “human/civilised me gets up later on…(around 10-30am on a normal week)
11. Spirituality ~ It really started in earnest when my mother died.
12. Smoker (Stupid)
13. Sex ~ Male
(sorry I’ve gone over the quota – your post is Fun)
